BowTie Risk is supported directly by the engineers who develop it. Email contact@bowtierisk.app and you will get a reply from a person, not a ticketing system. We read every message and reply personally.
Getting help inside the app
Both apps include an onboarding guide and a help section covering the app’s main functions. Most questions are answered there, so it is worth looking before emailing. On Mac these are under the Help menu. On iPad and iPhone they are available from the app's main menu.
If you are new to the method rather than the software, start with What Is a Bowtie Diagram?, which explains the structure in plain English.
Reporting a problem
When something is not working, the following makes it much faster to diagnose:
- Which app — BowTie Risk: Risk Analysis on Mac, or BowTie Risk: Risk Assessment on iPad and iPhone.
- The app version. On Mac, open the app menu in the menu bar and choose About. On iPad and iPhone, it is shown in the app’s settings or help screen.
- Your device and operating system version.
- What you were doing when it happened, and what you expected instead.
- A screenshot, if the problem is something you can see.
Please do not send us your risk assessment files unless you want us to look at one specifically. We do not need them to investigate most issues.
Subscriptions, billing and refunds
Subscriptions are purchased and managed by Apple through the App Store, not by BowTie Risk. To change or cancel a subscription, or to request a refund, use your Apple Account subscription settings or Apple's own support channels. We have no access to your payment details and cannot process refunds on Apple's behalf.
The Mac app and the iPad and iPhone app are separate App Store apps with separate subscriptions. A subscription to one does not unlock the other.
Free trial
The annual Premium subscription starts with a one-week free trial. Like all App Store subscriptions, it renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the trial ends. You can do this at any time in your Apple Account subscription settings.
Restoring a subscription
If you get a new device, reinstall the app or Premium does not appear to be active, use the Restore Purchases option in the app while signed in with the same Apple Account you subscribed with. Your subscription is tied to your Apple Account, not to a BowTie Risk account, so there is nothing else to sign in to. If it still does not restore, email us with the app and device details listed above.
Your files
BowTie Risk stores nothing on our servers. Your assessments are files saved wherever you chose — on device, iCloud, OneDrive, Google Drive or another location. If a file is missing, it will be in that storage location rather than in an account we can recover it from, so we recommend keeping assessments somewhere that is backed up.
Using the same assessment on Mac, iPad and iPhone
Assessment files open in both apps. To work on the same assessment across devices, save it to a location every device can reach — iCloud Drive, OneDrive or Google Drive — and open it from there in the other app. Premium features need a subscription in each app you use.
Feature requests
Requests are welcome and several features in the apps came from them. Send them to the same address and tell us what you are trying to achieve, not only what you would like added — it usually leads somewhere better.
